The Computer Science Department at UBC
Networks, Systems, and Security Lab (NSS)

Welcome to the the Networks, Systems, and Security Lab (NSS) in the Department of Computer Science, at the University of British Columbia.

The Network and Security Group conducts research in a wide variety of topics related to operating systems and distributed systems.

Much of our research targets software that is used to control and use collections of computers on fixed and wireless networks. Today computers come in all shapes and sizes. They provide a wide range of services, from air-traffic control to multimedia and multi-user games, from parallel processing to electronic commerce.

Research in the NSS is supported by a number of government and industrial sources, including Cisco Systems, the Communications Security Establishment Canada, Intel Research, the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and Network Appliance.
