Gabriel Murray: Abstractive Summarization of Conversations
In this talk I will describe work on a fully automatic abstractive
summarization system for multi-party conversations. Unlike a standard
extractive summarizer, our system generates new text to describe
conversations at a high level. I will present results of a user study
comparing the two approaches to summarization in terms of user
preferences and task efficiency. The findings provide motivation for
shifting summarization research further towards abstraction.
